Applications and limitations of machine learning in radiation oncology
This paper, published in 2019 in The British Institute of Radiology, co-authored by Mark Goodin, Chief Science Operator of Mirada Medical, summarizes and evaluates the application and limitations of machine learning in radiation therapy workflows. The authors of the paper note that, as humans train the machines, the constraints and challenges that face humans are also found by algorithms. These challenges include areas where ground truths are not well defined, and evaluation and judgment vary. On the other hand, if machines need to replicate, automate and standardize human behavior, machines are outstanding. Read more here: https://www.birpublications.org/doi/full/10.1259/bjr.20190001
