Mirada builds cutting-edge software for the medical imaging world, helping doctors diagnose and treat cancer. Based in the centre of Oxford, we are a growing, dynamic team of skilled people who love to build software.

We are seeking a self-motivated experienced software tester with an interest in the medical imaging domain to participate in the design and development of Mirada’s global software systems. You will work collaboratively within specialised project teams, taking a lead role coordinating the testing of Mirada’s products.  As a member of the Engineering team, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the product lifecycle, including providing technical assistance to Customer Service and Sales teams and improving the operation of the R&D group.

Job summary

The Software Development department is responsible for the delivery of medical software products sold directly to end users under Mirada’s brand, integrated in other vendors’ solutions or custom built as contracted. The department collaborates with the Quality and Regulatory department to ensure that products are manufactured to the required standards for the countries where they are sold, and with the Science and Product Management departments to ensure all Mirada products contain the required functionality and satisfies the users’ needs.

The Senior Software Test Engineer reports to the Software Development Manager and works as part of a cross functional project development team throughout the entire software development lifecycle. They lead the test activities and are responsible for designing, reviewing and executing tests to verify that the software meets its specification as well as validating it meets the intended use. They manage and coordinate all related test activities to achieve successful and usable medical SW product releases within project constraints. As an experienced tester, they guide and coach other team members with testing activities and actively drive continual improvement of testing within the engineering department.

Essential Skills and Behaviours

  • Foundation ISEB/ISTQB Certification in Software Testing (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience of test planning and coordination for a complete SW product development project
  • Expertise in manual test case generation from requirements at the system and acceptance levels
  • Test planning and coordination of test execution
  • Test execution and reporting
  • Reviewing requirements
  • Working with issue tracking systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven record of working as a tester, test lead or test analyst on several Microsoft Windows based projects throughout the development lifecycle
  • Understanding of all aspects of a software development lifecycle
  • Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Coaching of others in test activities
  • Experience of Microsoft Windows based applications

Advantageous Skills and Behaviours

  • Intermediate, advanced or practitioner level ISEB/ISTQB Certificates.
  • Familiarity with requirements for working within a regulated environment (ISO 9001, FDA)
  • Experience of test automation (writing and maintaining automated tests)
  • Medical imaging knowledge.
  • DICOM knowledge.
  • User Interface evaluation skills.
  • Familiarity of testing Java applications.
